Vandemark Farms Compadre Zoysia is the best choice of the zoysia grasses for this area. The name Compadre
was chosen because of its ability to be coupled with Fescue for a year-round green lawn. It is an extremely cold tolerant variety
that can be installed, as sod, year round. Compadre Zoysia has a tight-knit canopy that inhibits most all broad leaf weeds and has
a slower growth rate than other Zoysias. Reduced maintenance and tolerance of disease, has made it become the apex of the zoysia grasses
in this climate.
Compadre Zoysia is available by seed, but can be very difficult to germinate. It should
only be installed by seed in a bare soil area. June and July are the best months to plant it by seed.
