Vandemark Farms Common Centipede is a medium bladed variety that is native to China. Known as the Lazy Man's Grass, it has the
least maintenance requirement of all grasses for this area. Unfortunately, it is not as cold tolerant or disease tolerant as the others.
Weed growth can be minimized with proper mowing techniques but requires special herbicides to remove weeds without damaging the turf.
Common Centipede is available by seed, but has more flexibility when installed as sod. Seed planting should only be done during the
months of June and July for optimum germination. This variety requires full sun of at least 10 hours a day and is not considered shade
tolerant.
